Decrypting a string in a PHP file

i have a bit on me website that was made for me that is encrypted the bloke who made it is long gone now the site is not working properly and i think it has somet to do with this encrypted bit can any one offer any advice

is it just a sting that is encrypted? or is it all the code?

Hmmm I wouldn't call that encryption. Here is the source. Took me about 10mins to break it.

• Replaced the eval statement with an echo and the __FILE__ with a get_file_contents() to a duplicate of the original.
• This revealed a small piece of code with another eval. I proceeded to replace this with an echo and the code real code was revealed.

I would only call that encryption in the loosest of senses. It is not very secure and wastes processor cycles IMO.

hi all ok got site reloaded with new file from visualad still not working renames file to plategen.php which it was in first place and still not working .

now im thick on this subject lol but basically this is wat should happent if u look at www.thenumberplateshop.co.uk/ukplate.php u will see an online numberplate designer now this has a red square in top middle were the blank numberplate/licence plate should be. this missing appears to stop everything from working .i will gladly pay any one who can make this site work again.

oh and advice to all dont ever buy a website from other people we got this one from a company nolonger in use and frankly its been a nightmare worked great when we first got it then just died .
