Did it actually say it was losing market share, or that it wasn't gaining it as fast as it once was?
"In 2000, Windows comprised about half of the server operating system market, followed by Unix and Netware at about 17 percent each and Linux reaching towards 10 percent, she said, noting that today Windows owns about 70 percent, Linux about 20 percent, with Unix below 10 percent and Netware barely registering."
So Win gained 20%, linux 10%.
Not that I care - I was just looking for an excuse to post the video of the penguin slipping.
anyone can post percentages, but it's misleading. The number of servers has at least doubled since 2000 therefore it's possible everyone had gains.
that's just messed up. How did you make that gif?
I made it through google.
google creates gifs from videos??
Yes.
Its a special form of compression that generates revenue for broadband providers.
ok, well i just downloaded rp11 beta and it adds a "download" button to all online videos. Quite handy.
And it's in Beta stage.
where is the link for that?
spoonguard2? Well i'll click it anyway. Can't resist.
Anyway, it may be beta, but it works better than any other version of real player i have ever used. It doesn't automatically steal file associations or install the taskbar program or any of that crap either. I am thoroughly happy with it. It even enabled me to view videos on youtube my download speed was preventing me from watching in the past. I was able to watch "star trek vs star wars" and "yoda dancing" with no trouble at all!
This is the google gif converter we're talking about, right?
If so, it doesn't exist...
Lord Orwell: YOu have officially lost all respect I may have had for you.
Nobody cares.
no i was talking about real player 11. I can download a video to my computer with it, then convert it with other programs such as FreeStudioManager from dvdvideosoft.
here's an example image
I use RealAlternative. RealPlayer is such a pointless memory hog, and I can already download flv videos using Firefox/Swiftfox plugins or SaveYouTube, but I prefer the plugins.
cool i did not know there is a firefox plugin for it. I knew of a website for it: Kissyoutube.com, but it is down temporarily.
There are some plugins. Mainly they feed the url into some php page and you get the download either instantly or you click "Download now" and it downloads.
The one I use (if I ever use one on a regular basis) is Fast Video Download. It's good so far. TBH I haven't gone trailblazing through them all and testing them because downloading youtube vids is not something of a neccessity, especially when I have broadband connections at home.
unfortunately i don't. I have the equivalent speed of isdn, and i still lose connection on certain files (and oddly only certain ones) constantly. So i figured if i could get one that works with a download accelerator such as star downloader, it would not matter how many times it disconnected because it would resume again.
