To cuddle and pinch and play with. :(
The real reason you want a cat is to just pinch it, isn't it?

These urban myths come from somewhere, right?
I don't know about that. My cat is 16 years old and is terrified of leaving the house. I won't make her do it if she doesn't want to.Quote:

Actually, if you lived on the third floor you'd be better off. A study showed that cats take a certain amount of time to turn so that they are feet first, at which point they then relax their body, spread out, and parachute to some extent. In that stance, their terminal velocity is too low to be...well....terminal. However, if they haven't attained the parachute stance before they hit the ground, they could be injured by the fall. Thus there is a range of heights where they are too low to be injured, a range in which they may well be injured because they are not able to adjust in time, and above that, they can fall any distance and should not be badly injured by the fall.
Who conducted that study, and how, are both questions for which I do not even want to know the answer.
A cat can survive a 1 story fall as against a 1 foot fall.
I dont intend to lob it out the window though. I might be reported for animal cruelty if every morning a cat flew out my window and landed on a passerby :p
