This morrow I was delayed briefly while walking past a "Bus Stop", I believe they are called. A young personage best described as inexpensively attired had cause to attract my attention by grunting an incoherent exclamation in my general direction.
I greeted said delinquent in a manner befitting our respective standings and pardoned myself for not having comprehended his opening remark and beseeched he re-iterate. He went on to repeat himself in a slightly louder and more irritable tone of voice. This was unfortunate because his poor posture and low-breeding simply caused the verbalisations to be lost among the sounds and indeed smells of the city.
Once again, but now with growing concerns for my impending lateness, I indicated my inability to understand the person's entreaty and bid the youth a polite farewell and recommenced my journey to work.
However, I was taken aback to hear a finely enunciated outburst of disdain as I departed. I can only surmise that it was aimed at someone else. The standard of manners among the young persons of the street is most distasteful.
