Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
When opening a blank page in Word, there are four objects (don't know the correct term) in the corners of the page - 90 degree-angles indicating where the margins meet. I've tried everything to remove them (Tools - options - view, page setup, Format, etc.) Nothing helps. Please help, this is very frustrating.

See attached screenshot. I made the angle markers a bit darker.
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
well i am pretty sure those are going to be there forever. They dont show up when you print do they?
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
Seems to me this is the text boundaries. I'm not sure how it remove on Office XP. I've use 2003, and the setup is slightly different from your screen shot. Check in this way you can remove it.
Go to the Options dialog box. There you can found "Print and Web Layout Options". Unchecked the "Text boundaries" option and click Ok. It should remove.
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
I actually have the feeling that you are actually using Microsoft Works Word Processor?
I had the same problem with it. But then one day when I went on (a few days after I had purchased office) they were gone...

I think he is talking about OfficeXP, because Microsoft Works versions normally introduced with numbers, like 7, 8 and 9. Version 9 is the newest one.
And how can be change settings without any actions by the user. I haven't heard any such instants, except on automated process.
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
It does not help to remove text boundaries.
The problem started since I installed Office XP on my new laptop running Vista Home Basic.
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word

Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
No, they don't show on printouts as well as print preview.

Does the About Box look like this?
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
Yes, except that it says Microsoft Word 2002.
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
Well, there goes my theory.
In all the years I've use Word, I've never seen those characters on the page.
It has to be some kind of settings under options.
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
I asked somebody else to change his settings under options exactly as mine, but the marks do not appear on his Word (same version as mine). I wonder if it will solve the problem if I reinstall Office?

Are you sure that all the settings are same in both systems. There are large number of setting you have to compare, isn't it?

Yes, if you reinstall such a software it works on default settings. Those marks are not default for Word.
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
Not a macro running is it...?
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
Have you edited your normal.doc if you have then you need a blank document to replace it. As all new docs are created from the normal.doc
EDIT: Try looking in the options i think it has something to do with page margins and layout
Re: Can't get completely blank page in MS Word
is that the only symbol showing up? do you see character formatting such as paragraph symbols? In any case what do you see when you change the default view?

Hmm, this is interesting. It should work. But how? Because only Page setup and Compatibilities allow to change back to default in Win2003. It is quite similar to office XP, right?
