[RESOLVED] My User CP won't update!
Hello guys.
I've been having this problem for quite some time now. The problem is that my New Subscribed Threads section doesn't update as it is supposed to.
For example, the attached picture shows that I have 2 new subscribed threads. Eventhough I have posted in different threads since the date depicted in either of those 2 threads, this still shows, and all the new subscriptions don't show.
I know some of my students are frequently using this PC, and some are registered members here, might that be the issue ¿

Re: My User CP won't update!
Might be if they are not logging out properly, but again i ain't 100% sure. Also did you attach the picture correctly i can't see one at all.

Re: My User CP won't update!
Tried logging in & out as well, still the same :(
And, I forgot the picture in my first post, it's up there now :)

Re: My User CP won't update!
You said some of your students are members here and use the same PC.
Do they have the same problem you are having?

Re: My User CP won't update!
Let me try to find out ( although it's almost 2 PM here, on a Friday ) meaning exam time, I'll try, but hopefully by Tuesday I'll be able to get back to you on that ( monday's a public holiday as well ) :(
I'll try to find out their usrnames / get them to test. I allow them to use the forums to find out stuff for their own personal needs, not class stuff, so I also hope they haven't asked too many LOL
Thanx though

Re: My User CP won't update!
Well, when you find out their VBF user names, you can always look them up from the member list and find out what they have been posting. :D
Let us know how that test works out.

I believe it actually shows threads that you have subscribed to that have had recent responses since you've last viewed the thread.

I don't believe you will ever see yourself as the most recent poster in a subscribed thread when viewing your subscribed threads list in UserCP, as it only shows threads that have had responses since the last time you opened the thread.
I could be wrong though.

Re: My User CP won't update!
Lou is right - it only shows threads if they have replies you haven't seen yet (and it is assumed that you have seen what you posted yourself). For further info, see this thread from last week.
If you want to see the other threads you have subscribed to, click on the "View all Subscribed Threads" link.

Yes, exactly. It is supposed to show the threads which had responses since my last visit. It doesn't. Now, It still shows the threads 9 as in the picture in my first post ), which is wrong, it was supposed to show this thread in there as well, because it had responses since my last visit.

Exactly. But it doesn't :)

Re: My User CP won't update!
if you open all subscriptions, does this thread show?
-
Re: My User CP won't update!
Yes it does ( with you as being the last poster - which it should ), alongwith the other threads that didn't want toi show new replies.

Re: My User CP won't update!
Did you find out if this is happening to all the people using that computer in your class?

Re: My User CP won't update!
OK, found the name of one of my students which is also a member here. His name is GrimmReaper. He only has one subscribed thread since his last visit ( somewhere in August ) as per attachment A.
My user CP ( New subscribed threads ), now looks like Attachment B
So, there doesn't seem to be any issues of conflicting threads. Maybe it's a caching issue.
Another thing I encountered just now, is the LastPost cookie. I initially Quick Replied to this thread, and then decided to include the pictures ( so I clicked Post Reply ). Now usually, the LastPost cookie keeps track of the current post ( for in case something happens ). When I clicked on Last post, it showed a reply amde to this thread :
How can I put a TextBox on the title bar of my application?

Re: My User CP won't update!
Not sure how the LastPost function works but as for the threads issue is it possible that you were being automatically logged in as GrimmReaper and didn't notice?

HanneSThEGreaT: When you first mentioned that you shared that machine with some of your students, this it the VERY first thing that jumped into my mind. When you click the "Remember Me" checkbox, the next time the site is launched, the last person to be logged in will automatically get logged in again (which, frankly, is why I don't like that feature, but that is a whole other story). If a number of members are using the same machine, this would be a very easy scenerio to fall into.

Re: My User CP won't update!
That may have happened here, not sure though - it's the only place I could find...

Re: My User CP won't update!
Any advice on what else I can do guys :)
You know, as I told Ron ( GR ), I really don't mind them using my computer to find solutiuons to their own problems, in fact, I encourage it, but they could have the decency just to log out and on everytime.. :)

So, this problem continues to persist even when YOU are logged in (and you are certain it is your member ID that is logged in)?

Re: My User CP won't update!
This what I get now. In the picture, you can clearly see that the last I visited was after 1 PM today, but still, "old" stuff show. I was here earlier during the day and I got those 9 threads, I retuned later and still got them, I even got them now.
They should have disappeared, isn't it ¿
-
Re: My User CP won't update!
Not unless you opened each one.
-
Re: My User CP won't update!
Nope. Doesn't work either. You can see I went to those ( which are purple ), I went to them about a dozen times, and still it displays.
Granted, I don't frequent the these forums as much as CG, but still, it shouldn't appear like this. I know on CG, it doesn't matter whether or not I open those threads again, or not, after some time, they disappear.
Maybe I should try modifying my profile, so that I don't subscribe to threads, leave it like that for a day or 2, then modify my profile again, so that I'll be subscribed to threads.
Let me try.

Re: My User CP won't update!
Sorry, delete if you want..
-
Re: My User CP won't update!
We run 3.5 here and use a different thread read marking system than CodeGuru. On CG they are marked read when you logout. Here you have to visit a thread to mark it as read, or you can leave it for 10 days and it will expire automatically.

Re: My User CP won't update!
Ah, I see, so you got the newer version :)
OK, ok, now I see, thanx for bearing with me. It makes sense now, thanx for clearing that up, and sorry I wasted your time guys, I know you're very busy here :p

Re: My User CP won't update!
No problem, and no time wasted. Threads like this is why Forum Feedback exists! :)

Re: [RESOLVED] My User CP won't update!
Codeguru will eventually be upgraded. Due to its complexity, it was delayed.
Brad!
