[RESOLVED] Notebook startup trouble

I have this notebook, and I had used it for 30hours nonstop, it still works fine. 4 days later after short usage (being used for 3 hours a day by another person for the next 4 days). On the fourth day the notebook kept asking how to boot windows "Last know configuration" "safe mode" etc but nothing happens when either is chosen just shows a blue screen with white fonts saying something....hardware...

Now a certain 'expert', trying to blame me, said that it was because i used it for 30 hours non stop that something got burned. Is that possible, since it was still working perfectly for the next 4 days?

I havent taken a look at the notebook yet so this is all the information i have so far. What is your opinion? Could it be my fault? Or is it windows issue that can be solved by reformatting?

Mostly it can be Windows issue. I don't think that it is an issue on hardware. Continuous 30hours wont be an issue. I've seen that most notebook works for a long time. By the way, if you can't boot it on last know working configuration, mostly have to go for a reinstall.

:p If you don't use any software or any external devices, the issue could be on the OS. Have you, or that person who use it for 4 days, do it?

Was it plugged in or running off of battery?

Can you please note down and tell us the error message?

sorry to say but its actually possible that somthing did can out from use like that but that wouldnt cause the problem your running into i dont beleive

It was plugged in. The other person has a Ghost image CDs, but the CDROM drive is with me.

Anyway i'm marking this as resolved for now, as I will be going to the person's house in only 3 weeks time. I'll check then and update here if there is still issues. Thanks.

Need your help. I reformatted and reinstalled windows and all softwares and it worked fine. 5 days later the same problem (as in post 1) happened again. This time I saw how it happened.

The AVG Anti Virus icon beside the clock, had a baloon pop up saying something like "a few componets are in a state of error, pay attention to it". When I clicked it, Resident Shield popped up, the window maximized, but all buttons were missing, just the logo was there, and it could not be closed. So I restarted the notebook, and that was the end of it.

The black windows XP screen will load. After that for less that 1 second a blue screen appears. The only words i was able to look was 'memory xx 00'. Right after that it would go to the boot choice.

I am wondering could this be a virus attack targetting the AVG anti Virus or something like that? Could it be my hard drive?

Have you found any virus on HDD before this is happened.

I've never done a HDD scan. A few times when I connect to the internet AVG pops up a message "threat found" and i keep pressing the 'Heal' button, then it's ok.

That mean you have found a virus or spywhere. Mostly it can be a spywhere because the alert gives when you connect to the internet. Virus alert normally gives after get it into the PC. I've no better idea about those alerts in AVG, I hate AVG, Kaspersky work in that way.

So it can be a virus attack. Can't you scan it on another nootbook?

I have only a notebook and a pc. So if it is an attack, and AVG is clearly failing in preventing it, what is the best free anti virus to use? Its a real pain to keep reinstalling windows.

In my experience, I think Kaspersky is the best. Most important thing to use it is, use the less resources of the machine, like RAM and others. So it want slow down the machine. Also no registry files, no log files are used.

Actually all anti-virus software has there own strength and weaknesses.
