Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
I can't seem to figure out how the User CP - Subscribed Threads work. Sometimes there are threads listed and other time there are not even after I just posted on a thread it stated that I am subscribed to none in that time period. What time period is that?
Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
There's a bug. See this and others if you search this forum for "subscribed".
Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
The User CP shows subscribed threads that contain unread posts. If you are the last poster in a thread, it follows that it won't contain any unread posts, and thus it won't be displayed. The "time period" wording is misleading; it's a holdover from when threads used to be marked as "read" based on a time interval rather than actually tracking individual thread views.

Thanks penagate, that explains it.
MartinLiss, those threads didn't answer my question. But at least I know it's a bug now. It was driving me crazy...
Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
No its not a bug as PG was stating. But to elaborate more, we are now using a database marking method for read threads/posts vs. in the old vBulletin version where we had to use cookies to keep track of read threads/posts since last visit.
Currently the time limit for keeping a unread thread in your control panels Subscribed area is 10 days. After that it will be automatically marked as read.
Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
But these are post I just made that don't turn up. Surely they haven't been read yet... or does it get marked as read soon as I post it?
Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
The latter. It is assumed that you read your posts when posting them.
Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
So this would be a post that was read by anyone? If anyone read it it would not show up in the CP? Not necessarily me?

Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
Ah, no. Read/unread statuses are stored on a per-user basis.
If you post a new reply to a thread it will appear as unread to any other user.

However, it will appear as read to you, because you view it as soon as you post the message. (If you stop your browser half-way through submitting a post, the post might go through but the thread might appear unread, but this is an anomaly.)
So 'unread' always means that you haven't read it, or, as RobDog mentioned, it's been unread for more than 10 days at which point the unread flag is discarded to save space.
Re: Subscribed Threads: User CP - How does this work?
Ok, I will check the CP before I read any new post to see the results...
Thanks for clearing that up.
