MS Reporting Services - Trouble with subtotals / Matrix Report

Hi all,

I am unable to access expressions in my subtotal row/column in my matrix reporting services report. The expressions for the subtotals are "greyed" out.

The report is reflecting first when the report is rendered and I need it to reflect a sum for the subtotal.
