But of course. You really should at least have SP-2 on it, unless the XP CD was built with SP-2 already installed. You probably will have about 70 updates after that. Your call. ;)
and i wanted to reply to me first
You had a whole 2 minutes you turtle :D
I find Miss Excel prettier.
but i've never had any ms products fail... why should i download the updates
So a Hacker cant intrude your system and gain control of it. :D
you mean there are bad ass hackers with complete /-\wesomness capable of getting access to pcs without me knowing about it? what about internet security... can't a user just talk to the police or their isp and track the hacker back to source... not that i would btw :D
 Are you serious? Hackers can cover their tracks very easily.
It takes the FBI (for USA users) to analyze your infected or hacked hard drive in order to get some kind of direction but once they get it it still takes some time legally to get the info from the ISP etc.
ah yes but how long would it take you to track one down ;) Lets see how would one do it... sniff and trace infected ports... with access to the phone line and ip... 10 seconds tops with the best software?
and even if there was a proxy... just sit and wait... watching ips in and out... more than 10sec... maybe 2 or 3 days depending... with the best software just sit back and watch teh log files... too easy. stringing proxies could be feasible but sooo slow it would be almost impossibel to control or access a pc at speed unless... :D you ran some ware to check prox speed and link via 100s and even if some are honeypots it doesn't matter does it as long as a few caveats are applied... but it would still be a monumental risk not knowing how many real proxies are available  becos the *ia s would work out the real proxies and monitor them too ;) so trace always possible in 99% of scenarios unless foreign governments decide not to cooperate with each other. and how would one ever know which governments are cooperating with each other and which aren't  but one could minimise the risk by increasing the number of proxies and countries though couldn't one... and there is always the chance to attack in a single hit never returning to that proxy again ;)
I'm glad RobDog knows what a "Udate" is, even if I don't.
An "Udate" is what he does when he gets "board"
This is all assuming, of course, that the IP you trace the hacker back to does in fact belong to the hacker and not to some poor unfortunate he's nicked it off either by compromising their PC or just stealing it outright,,,Quote:
