I know it upset me. It is not indecent in any way and is a legitimate BBC News story, but I just couldn't believe what it was about!

That's a bit harsh, don't you think? Look, I know it's inpolite to talk about cultures and religions, but there are some seriously messed up s#*t in this world!!!
I mean honestly... what would happen if we started cutting each other's feet of just because "it's our culture"? It's rediculous.
Coming from a country where we have more than 14 official languages and cultures, it's kind of hard to keep track of them all, and as it's not my own culture, I don't agree with them at all.
That is not the main reason why it's so upsetting. The main reason is that the majority of the world sees this kind of "culture" as disturbing, and surely this should say something to these who still live by them?
There have already been arrests in New York, USA for this. Considered child abuse.
Well, I would consider it inhumane... but that's just me...
But yet doing the exact same thing to a guy (circumcision) is perfectly legal.
No... there's a difference. Circumcision is not removing the WHOLE package...
Male circumcision is still a completely unnecessary operation and therefore a cosmetic operation.
Would you give a baby a face lift or a boob job?
maybe not, but it is a known fact that a man is already messing with less nerve endings than a woman. Then you cut off 3/4 of the ones he has? What would sex be like if you could experience it properly? I wish i knew.Quote:

I agree. Whatever the surgical procedure is, if it's not from an abnormality (like a Cleft Palate), then the parents shouldnt' have the right to make a decision for that child.Quote:

Fair point :thumb:
The catholic church used to push it as a deterrent to mastrubation. However, anonymous polls have shown that circumcised people mastrubate more often. Don't ask me why.
While I have no actual experience (remaining, as I do, a 'hoodie'), I've read that male circumcision actually leads to an increase in sensitivity. I imagine that's not the case with female circumcision but I don't know.
I do know that some African tribes encourage ants to bite the clitoris of young girls because it stimulates growth and sensitivity.
We live in a very strange world.
I'll try and redress the balance. I'm not having them beating me (if you'll excuse the choice of words).Quote:

i wonder if that would work on a man. I have an ant nest in my yard, and i could always use 1 - 3 more inches... (just to be freakish you understand ;))
