I will be logged into vbf, and if i click a link leading to another thread (inside a thread) it opens in a new window, and i am no longer logged in. Why does it do this?
It doesn't happen to me in IE6.
VBForums has several domain names. Because the auto-login cookie only applies to one domain, if you follow a link that points to another domain, you will not be logged in. To fix this, either log in on each domain, or correct the link so that it points to the one you are currently on.
For example, I am on http://vbforums.com. If I follow a link pointing to http://www.vbforums.com, I will need to edit it and remove the www in order to be logged in.
To avoid this problem when linking to threads or individual posts, you should use the [thread] and [post] tags. These will create a relative link rather than an absolute one. Unfortunately the [url] tag will not accept relative paths, so there is no straightforward way of linking to forums or other pages on the site.
that explains it, thanks pena. I login at vbforums.com and now www.vbforums.com
