Re: Time Spent on Forums..
I beleive there are a lot of people that might be shocked to find out how much time they actually spend on the forums... ;) :D
In truth, the value you would see would not be that relevant. A lot of members sign onto the sight and leave the site in a browser window. As such, the 'time on' would simply keep adding up even though they aren't actually 'on' the forum.
I think the "joined date" in combination with the number of posts and such will give an equally valid indication of the amount of time spent on the forum....
Brad!
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
Maybe its a total of "Logged in time"?
I think I would have a heart attack if I knew my total
Its better not to know :D
I dont believe vBulletin forum software stores a history of logged on date/time and logged off etc. It just stores the "Last Logged in" date/time.
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
SMF show the logged time :)
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
are you suggesting we switch to SMF then  jk...
But yes, as Brad said, i login to vbf to check my stuff, then i go and do other things, come back, leave and so on. And i have "Remember Me" checked, so i am always logged on.
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
"Remember me" doesnt keep you continuously logged in. It only autologs you in when your sesion has expired from no activitity (after 15 mins) and you start a refresh or navigate away from the page you were viewing. ;)
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
I've never noticed a 15 minute time out...
Are you saying that if I visit the forum on one PC - wait past 15 minutes - visit the forum form another PC (and let's say not even log on) that I won't see myself in the Current User list??
If I had any time I would just test this out for myself ;)
[edit] Rob - is your next gem going to be a different color??
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
If you are on the second computer as a guest then no you will not see yourself online as your session would have expired.
I believe its 15 minutes for session timeouts. This can be tested by logging out and when logging back in not checking the "Remember me" checkbox. Then wait and see if its 15 minutes or ??? when you refresh and get prompted to relogin.
No more Gems for me Steve. I have retired from the post/rep race. Plus, the system can not handle anymore reps for displaying without a vBulletin hack which we dont use on the forums.
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
what do you mean rob? (about the gem thing)
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
11 Gems is the maximum number of Gems that can be displayed with vBulletin.

Time spent in forums: 5 Days 6 h 16 m 27 sec
which would be a cool little feature to add. Not sure if you guys store the log on / log off times, but you could just total those up or something.
Think about the day your life changed and you were suddenly happy all the time and the birds were always singing and the weather was always perfect and the food you ate always tasted good and your view of the world became rose tinted. Subtract that date from today's date. That's how much time you have spent on VBForums.
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
i guess your right. simple equation of happiness can tell how long one has been logged in.
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
Hi guys, am indeed new to this forum but was initially here just to look for some answers but decided to lurk a bit longer. I think if you add up all the time spent it might add up to a few days already. Imagine those more senior members and the % of their life that was dedicated to this forum. :p
Re: Time Spent on Forums..
i know i spend at least 5-10% of my life on vbf, now for some one like RobDogg, he might spend some where between 70-99.999% of his life here :P
