newbie and first project

i sorry if this was posted in the wrong section,i'm not really sure where to ask this.i am new to vb and trying to learn at the moment.

what i'm trying to do:

i have winamp and MS AutoRoute 2007 installed , and what i would like is a way to pause winamp when autoroute speaks directions, i have the coding to pause winamp i think,

now i'm sure autoroute uses the xp speech engine, but i do not know how to detect it. i was thinking maybe a standalone speech engine program with winamp control built into it,unless there is a simpler solution.

before anyone asks i'm not after someone to make a program up unless its that easy,i'm just after to be put in the right direction

Hi. Before someone else says it, let me tell you first. Normally people want to see your code in order to help with it. So no code = no help. Also, most people will think that you want someone to do your homework for you if you don't post code.

Now that that is said and done, for a person that's new to VB, what you're trying to do isn't so newbie. Do you program in other languages and want to know how to do it in VB or are you new to programming? Either way, it would probably involved some API calls. I really don't know, I'm a hobby programmer (amateur). However, like I said above, you need to post the code that you have so far (the pause thing) so people with more experience can lend you a hand.
