I am quite interested in the Navy as I was bought up on the Isle of Wight and was born in Portsmouth. I used to sail a lot (small dinghies) but it has left me with a fascination for the wooden ships of the Napoleonic era navy. Have you read any Patrick O'Brian?
Deeply satisfying. The Last Grain Race by Eric Newby is v. interesting too.
