So, I'm using Visio 2003.
What symbol can I use to represent a 'Windows Service'? The closest thing I could find was 'fire hydrant' (not kidding). Help me out here.

Just a thought...
on XP, the Administrative Tools\Services icon is a couple of gears or sprockets.
Got anything like that available?
If it were up to me, I'd take the generic picture of a desktop computer (or tower if you want) and add the green refresh/recycle arrows in the upper-right hand corner. I believe Visio has a recycle image already avaliable.
That's what I'm looking for. Can't find anything. Searched service, windows service, services, gear, sprocket, cog...Quote:

More or less. The refresh arrows might make more sense, but some recycle symbols are close enough.
Are you limited to icons provided by Visio?
Visio uses Shapes and Stencils. I do believe there is an add on pack of stencils.
A service could look something like a SQL server process. Look at the Task group of the second picture from my FAQ -http://vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=402064
It has a gear with an arrow to it. Something like that but in stencil form may work for you.
Here is a mvp site with a whole slew of stencils for free download - http://visio.mvps.org/3rdparty.htm
Meow!
If there's a way to add them, I'm open to suggestions.Quote:
