Internet Connection Problems
I know this forum is not a technical support forum but I wondered if anyone else has this problem.
My ISP is Universal Telecom, I am running windows XP, I have the McAfee Security Center (An older one) and as my ISP's DNS servers do nothing. My connection was working fine for a while and then for no reason it all it packed up. That was when I changed my DNS servers to OpenDNS's and it worked... sorta.....
I cannot access certain sites even when I turn McAfee off. There is no parental filters and the site I am trying to access are perfectly clean. I cannot access www.speedtest.net and www.influencehost.com. I have to use a proxy to get to those sites.
When I try and load other sites red X's appear when the pictures should be. Obviously I am having no problems with VBF ;)
Any Suggestions
Re: Internet Connection Problems
try using system restore, its a good tool for things like that.
Re: Internet Connection Problems
My dad tries that without telling me
It ends up resetting my DNS servers which is a pain and does little more. I think it could be a problem with the router as I tried my laptop and it experienced similar problems.
Re: Internet Connection Problems
try disconnecting and then reconnection
Re: Internet Connection Problems
@dclamp: I tried that......
I will mark this thread as resolved as my problem is fixed. Just when I was on the phone to Universal telecom, it just started working fine :o
They have no idea why it did not work and no idea how they helped :bigyello:
Re: Internet Connection Problems
Probably your ISP changed their IP addresses cause sometimes they are banned on some sites. So it's up to their administrator to unban IP sets.
Try visitin www.dnsstuff.com and check your IP.
Re: Internet Connection Problems
Try changing your router settings, to access it i think most address's are 192.168.1.1
Re: Internet Connection Problems
   I tried that
Re: Internet Connection Problems
May be your router was updated as sometimes when mine is my router jams up and cant connect to the internet unless i unplug it and leave it for 30 mins
Re: Internet Connection Problems
The router at my other house overheats and has to cool down before it works
