Database Development forum
Don't you think it deserves a better place? :)
Not that it's so important but I think it's about time that db forum is moved two spots up above the api and games.
Traffic isn't that high in db forum but it is much "heavier" than in those two combined (15-20 vs 2+3 but numbers of course may vary).
Anybody else supports this?
Re: Database Development forum
I would agree with that also.
Re: Database Development forum
Based on the traffic levels (and number of threads, etc) I would agree too - it does dramatically outweigh those others.
I don't know why, but some people get annoyed when the order of forums change, so I can understand some people disagreeing.

Yea, I can see that happens but for a day or two maybe - we all get used to things... :)
Re: Database Development forum
I would support the move.
Re: Database Development forum
What is gained by shifting a forum up two spots beyond an arbitrary ranking based on posts? Will people really find it easier or will it increase its number of posts? Are people having trouble finding it two spots down?
Moving the forum is easy, but the last time I moved a forum, people complained. As such, if nothing is really being gained by the move, then I'd prefer not to do it.
Brad!
Re: Database Development forum
I do find that DB questions are often posted in the VB (classic or .net) areas when they really belong in the DB area.
With that said - I would believe that moving it up to directly under those two others would make it clear to someone coming into the forum that there are three main areas - and if the question is DB related then by all means - there is a spot for that.
Plus it would make me feel more appreciated ;)

That is true but they will only complain for a day or two - that's it. :)

That is certainly the main reason - if list is organized in more "logical" way it will only help.
DB Forum is kind of lost somewhere down below...
Plus it will make guys like Steve more happier than ever. :)
Re: Database Development forum
Why don't we have an automatic rotating system so that every forum gets equal exposure.
:)
Re: Database Development forum
Re: Database Development forum
Yes i also agree :) Though maybe leave the API forum where it is. But the games programming could drop down a couple.
Re: Database Development forum
now that i think about it. Why is Database Development in the Visual Basic category?
(some one is going to hate me for saying that)
Re: Database Development forum
Well Vb6 cna be used for database development but it should probably be put with Application deployment and other such stuff.
Re: Database Development forum
Most of the threads in the db forum are how to make the sql and vb sides talk properly. There are not many "pure sql" concept questions...

Because the overwhelming majority of database front end programs are writtein in Visual Basic (either VB6 or .NET) so it totally makes sense to have it there.
