:wave: I have Windows XP and am considering upgrading now to Vista. I was on ebay and saw Linux XP 2007 advertised. Has anyone out there tried this and if so what is your experience? Any compatibility problems of any kind using VB.NET. Does it work ok with VB 2003 and VB 2005? If you're interested in looking at the ad I saw go on ebay and look up item # 110110941183. It cost next to nothing and all upgrades are free forever and ever. :eek2:

I've just looked at that. And this 'XP 2007' is just a KDE Theme.

Of course, with regards to VB 2003 and 2005 working, no, not directly/natively, and probably not even through Wine (Though I have not tried).
However, if you are planning the move to linux, you can get Mono, of which supports .NET C# and VB (They are working on the VB Compiler as we speak I beleive).
Lets face it.. that guy is trying to pawn off Linux to unsuspecting Windows users who don't know better and think their windows programs will install and run on that (which they won't).
Not to mention the fact that he is selling something (albeit for 99 cents) that can be downloaded for free from freespires website.
The guy likely makes his money on the shipping costs he charges.
To answer your question, no you can't install or run Visual Studio .NET at all on a linux machine. Windows only.
As Rudi mentioned, there is something called Mono which is basically an attempt to copy the .NET framework class for class and have it run on linux, however while it is still pretty far from complete, its also not compatible with Visual Studio, and you would be used a different development environment (maybe mono has its own, I don't know)
Forget you ever saw that ebay ad. If you want to use linux download or order yourself the cd's/DVD's of one of the 'mainstream' distributions.
Distrowatch has a ranking list of popular distro's and also ordering info if you can't download one.
