Your company must have rather low standards. :afrog:Quote:

Is it your job to manage the team, or just program?
Ah, the serious tag. Now I must explain myself.
Very well. You don't have a lot of knowledge of ASP.NET (and I've seen that for myself). You got promoted to the post of Senior Developer. Therefore your company either is small or it has low standards to be ready to promote anyone at all, or it's in its best interests to have another senior developer to give off a good appearance in front of clients.
Capisce?
I wouldn't even consider pushing for the position of Senior Developer. Sure, I know VB code pretty darned well, and I'm picking up ASP.NET really fast... but that's no basis for me to think I can teach others. I build web sites with lots of access rules, which uses a few classes that need to be imported, and sure TSQL is a bit messy, but I'm no professional. I won't consider myself a pro until I have a paper saying I am. Probably won't happen till later in the year, but ah well.....
I do suppose, though, if they speak English as well as you, then you might be able to work something out..
Handicapable!
Congratulations on the promotion man. I hope it comes with a pay rise. :wave:Quote:

Congrats of the promotion! :thumb: Maybe one day I will be able to join you in the ranks of Sr Developers  Don't worry if its "correct" or not. Your boss felt that you deserved the promotion and that's all that matters:thumb:Quote:

Well I don't know his skill level, but his boss must feel he has some skill if he is will to promote him. Or at least thats how i see it. As far as he should care, his boss felt he deserved it (even if its only because there is nobody left;))Quote:

Being clueless about the development tools that are currently being used by the staff is the first step toward a senior IT management position. Congrats! :thumb:Quote:

Congrats, in a couple of months, you'll be MD :D
Shakti, many years (decades) ago I gave up a civil service job to start working as a programmer. I also had hardware engineering experience. The chief engineer got fed up with the boss and quit. They made me chief engineer. I had no ide what I was doing, but I studied on my own and learned. I've been a systems analyst for the last 30 years because of that job.
Congratulations. Now go learn as much ASP.Net as you can.
if you get paid more now, thats all that matters!
