Contractor.
We're pretty cut and dry on where we are in a company.
Show them who's smarter by finding a way to the website.
Can they block http://www[dot]unipeak[dot]com?Quote:

If you spend work-time on the internet then you have earned my contempt. Although I have run out of printed certificates, so you'll have to get in line.
proxys are your friend :)Quote:

Well when you're waiting on design to give you the new details... I could be like the other contractors and play sudo ku on my palm pilot and text message my wife... Or I can hang out online researching and making a better developer out of myself...Quote:

Problem solved
I have nothing... No access, not even to other sites.
I literally have:
w3.org
google.com
and our corporate site.
I can't even get on MSDN or Microsoft's update page.
Your network administrators must have lived cruel and painful childhoods and are now vicious with anger.
Well in case you changed your mind and decided to challenge the pathetic powers of your network administrator just PM me and I will email you a program that will nullify the site restrictions of your proxy.Quote:

I told him I enabled journal and was just testing it. He replied back "that is not a feature we think you should have."
On another day, a few of the guys from work and I went to tandoor. it's an indian restaraunt and the wait staff was short handed. We ate and got the bill. The "split" was really confusing and the waiter spoke very little english. because I didn't want to waste 20 minutes (we were already running late on lunch) trying to get this split right, I payed the whole bill and told them I would divide it and let them know how much they owed me.
I emailed everyone what they owed me and one of the people who went wasn't in my department. When he tried to reply, it failed... And also dropped in that same inbox. I then got an email from the network admin saying "the company email system is not for personal use. This is in direct violation of the AUP you signed and had reviewed by (name omitted: the CEO)." And he CC'd my project lead (who also happened to be at lunch with us and was a recipient I added).
I actually can do my own damage tot he network if I need to. I'm just on a vendetta. The nest time I need to use the internet or connect into a client and can't... and it takes half of the day to get me access again, then I'll bring it up and they can consult the megalomaniac NA.Quote:

so this guy is actively monitoring your emails???? Were you advised about this??? What about your passwords and the like???
I wasn't advised, but any more; it's implied. My guess is, he only monitors the ones that fail, but I don't know that for sure.Quote:

Thank god that they aren't smart enough to detect the usage of proxies. and at least VBF is not blocked :D
http://www.proxy4free.com/ is your savior :p
It turns out he cut everyones internet off... Due to march madness. I didn't even know it was NCAA time until someone told me. What a crock of $%*
Maybe it isn't even his fault? He could be instructed to do those kind of things by the people up top... I imagine the people reporting about productivity would care a lot more about you visiting the forums than the netadmin would.
Well, I've been visiting the foums for quite a while now... all together I use about 800MB bandwidth each month... Nothing yet. I don't think they'll dare attempt something... :D
In the part of the world where I live they don't even seem to know what bandwith is :p
Most ISP's don't limit it :D
I have no proble with doing online research in work time but I can't fathom why you'd be on VBF if you want to become a better developer :DQuote:
