Hi all.
I have very novice users. They mess up every thing. When you ask them, why, when and how they did it? They give you that innocent look with " I dono " answer!
Is anybody aware of any method to accomplish the Subject?

I'm wondering if there is a way to accomplish this while in Windows Explorer?
So it would be imposible for the user to Delete/Move a specific folder or any of it's contents.

In windows explorer? That's easy, innit?
You just, erm, right click the folder, choose properties, and then select it's attributes. Or maybe you'd have to do all the files like that. I'm not sure, but this sounds simple, and pretty much intuitive. It's there, just exactly what it looks like I can't remember. Go have a look.

What OS are the users on ?
Do they run from a server or on the desktops ? If it is on a NT server e-mail me and I will give you a lot of info.
If it is on the desktop just follow Mark's guidelines. Explorer, select the files right click, properties, tick read only. But be careful you might cause more problems that what you are trying to solve that way.

What I'm after is:
I want that folder/contents to be there and the user Can't Delete/move them NOR change there attributes. At least in GUI environment.
I mean, through the Registry or something like that.

I think maybe Maartin's your man for that kind of info, but if you're just trying o stop them from ruining things by accident, you don't relly need all the security. If you're only protecting them from themselves, they're not gonna go out of their way to mess things up are they?
If they do, then maybe they shouldn't BE users.

Ahh! I see!
You want to disable the properties, delete, rename etc. from the right-click context menu.
I'll have to have a think about that one! ;)

Lyla, yes there is an option it is called policies. This is something that works with NT and Win95 that I know works.
This profile is stored on the NT Server, when a user logs on this profile is loaded. In this profile you can deny a user access to a certain folder etc on the PC that the user logs on to. That also means that they cannot play in the registry to try and change this back so that they can.
Is this policy you can restrict access to printers network setting items on the start menu and many more. That is why I asked you all the questions about Winnt and Win95.

That's right Mark Sreeves.
I don't want any confirmation messages in whether to Move/delete an ARCHIVEDir/file.
I want it there At least in GUI environment, In a DOS environment it doesn't realy matter.
By the way, it's a PC with win95/98

Hey- Maartin is right, there are things called windows policies which are set in the system registry to disallow just about anything (including access to the registry so they cant disable the policies :) ) www.regedit.com might have what your looking for, if not, check the web for "windows policies" or something to that effect...
