keyboard shortcuts

hi,

Maybe its this problem is too easy for anyone else...but in my case this is serious...
everytime I turn on my computer I can't get in to safe mode using F8 key.
Second thing, when I open document files like MS word and type something, there are shorcut windows that will appear....well i havent tried to change my keyboard...Is this a hardware problem or the system itself...? I cant just reformat my pc since there important data to be retrieve...I just wanted to solve this without reformatting...

Please help me...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To get to Safe mode

• In the normal mode, goto Start->Run, and then type "msconfig" (without quotes). This will start your System Configuration Utility.
• Check for the BOOT.INI Tab.
• Check the /SAFEBOOT option, exit the utility, and restart your PC.
• When you are done, in the safe mode, run the msconfig again and uncheck the /SAFEBOOT option, restart to normal mode.

First of all, if you are not familier with System Configuration Utility try with another keyboard, and used F8 wheather it is fine or not.

Still you don't have a solution I think it is on S/W issue. Just go to the Device Manager and check there what is going on.

The F8 issue and the Keyboard issues are entirely different!! Why are you mixing up both!!

Sounds like the keyboard is the problem mate. If not, the connections at the back may not be connected well.
1. Try a new keyboard from somewhere. Perhaps a friend?
2. Try to take out the keyboard PS/2 connector and fit it back in again

The both problems sound like they are both keyboard related, so eranga262154 and I are assuming there is something wrong with keyboard.

True, but it looks like it combats only one problem. Seeing if the keyboard works can possibly tackle both problems at once, reducing the need for a reformat.

Different people have different aspect on same thing. So I don't think that Harsh statement "The F8 issue and the Keyboard issues are entirely different!!" as a solution, because the F8 issue and the Keyboard issue are same on my pervious post. I just give the alternative.

Harsh assumed that the keyboard is perfectly fine.

The point is not about opinions, and not that I assumed rhomel's keyboard is OK. If he can type in a word document, it means that the keyboard is working fine.

Statements like "I cannot press F8 and some other keys" might be a H/W issue.

@rhomel, What do you mean by "shortcut windows"? Could you post a screenshot if possible?

It seems like to me when I read the whole of that sentence there was a hardware fault.
