OEM Software

I was looking into buting Windows Server 2003, the only downside is that it is something like £400+. I then found the OEM version on Amazon but it was significantly cheaper. I have never bought OEM software before so i am not sure what to expect. My question really is what is the difference between the OEM version of Windows Server 2003 or the non-version of Windows Server 2003?

The OEM version being sold is not legal - didn't that other thread make that clear?

That OEM version came with a SERVER that was purchased - that has the sticker on it. That sticker means that OEM version can only ever be installed on that box - period. That sticker is the license for that server to have the O/S installed on it alone.

Someone selling that on Amazon is a crook - that stinks.

Well ,since it's a server software it would be better if you opt in for a retail version or go for a Linux/Solaris setup.As far as OS features are concerned there are no differences.

all i ever use is OEM myself .. but then i build my own PCs ..
the only thing non OEM i use is typically the Retail CPU packs.
