This is not a bad free book to have it's in pdf format C# School in mainly focuses on .Net 1.1 but is still a great read and gives you a good grounding in the basics.

C# for Dummies... just kidding :D
I found "C# for Programmers, 2/e" by Dietel Publishing to be a very good book on C#. It goes into detail and gives lots of programming examples. If you are like me and like to have problems to work on to show yourself that you are actually absorbing what you are studying <G> then this is a very good book to purchase.
Secondly, I find most of Wrox's books to be great as well, though I don't have any of their C# books (used Wrox mainly for VB personally).
