Me to lol, thankfully i done the smart thing and kept the set up files
That means everyone who has a link in their signature to AllAPI now has to remove it, or find somewhere else to download it from.
If anyone thats good with API functions and wants to help make examples im willing to host them on a website like allapi.net ? any takers?
:eek2:
We have many examples on the forums already (especially the API forum), and are happy to have more.Quote:

If the site is down, does that mean we can distribute the API Guide that they had available for download? I'm one of those that kept the setup file, even though I'm trying to work out of VB right now...
That's a good idea...
It depends on the licensing that was included with it - I've got a copy too, so I'll check it out later. :)
i think its free or shareware? i can possibly host these and then make a post but wouldnt be able to do it for a couple of weeks...if anyone wants to help out then just let me know, will link it up to the forum. :)
Im wondering if mentalis will do something.. it was theirs

I'd say, that reading those.... Distrubition is no problem!!
VBforums should host the app.. then add a download link :)
It is/was Postcardware (meaning they just wanted to know if it was being used), but the important issue is the licensing...
Luckily I managed to find a cached view of the site, and have found two useful things.. the setup package itself, and the following text (from here):
I just need to check that the Admins are ok with us hosting it (especially as they'll need to upload it - it's too large for any of us to do it!).Quote:
There's one program on this site that you can redistribute on your own site, and that's API-Guide, provided that you do not modify the original setup package.
i have webhosting with plenty of storage and 2TB of bandwidth a month...take that as an offer for me to host the program should you get the go ahead.

Brad!
It's very useful - I personally tend to use it 5+ times a day when I actually write software (it's getting rarer these days!).
We have permission from the creators (as does everyone) to host the setup package, so if you can find somewhere for it we'd be grateful. :)
It would probably make more sense to host it at the new Internet.com apifinder.com site you mentioned Brad.
Brad/Si, if possible, could you please mail mentalis.org and get licence of the html web reference too ?Quote:

Also a web reference is more convenient when posting in forum or when you are on a diffrent computer.
Thanks.
pinvoke.net is neither VB6 friendly nor Opera friendly. :/
If your german's any good you can always take a look at ActiveVB - (Rubriken -> API-Katalog -> dem Alphabet) You may have to check their declares against microsofts- they sometimes get their ByRef and ByVal wrong (usually ByVal=[In], ByRef=[Out] - except when dealing with strings)
If you have the EventVB source code (I'm sure I posted it somewhere on this site) and/or the compiled help file for the same you have the bulk of the Win32 APi declarations in that with the api constants grouped as enumerated types (to make life just that little bit easier).
The current release is here
While we are on the topic of useful VB API programs... APIViewer is a pretty good program. It replaces the normal API Viewer that you get with VB and has a lot more APIs (and is friendlier to use). Luckily though it hasn't been removed.
http://www.activevb.de/rubriken/apiv...viewereng.html
thanks to the Wayback Machine you can still:
navigate the API list (not examples): http://web.archive.org/web/200304011...st/apilist.php
and d/l the APIGuide: http://web.archive.org/web/200306131.../appdown.shtml
Maybe this will be useful, thanks to bushmobile's post i found this

You may not distribute ApiViewer on your site, unless you have the explicit written permission of the author.
All other software, source code, tips & tricks, tutorials or information may not be redistributed without written permission of the respective author(s).
We can post the API-Guide but not the viewer you have to ask (there was a link to ask them but i thought it would be best if a moderator or admin done it)
Jenova you might want to change the AllAPI link in your sig then ;)
Well I came here tonight to create a topic about this.
The problem is that I used to give beginners links to the last API tutorial there , none of the above links contain that tutorial.
Anyone here ever backed up such tutorial ?
the Wayback Machine has the tuts too: http://web.archive.org/web/200304012.../tutmain.shtmlQuote:

The funny part is I just uploaded a search button to search AllAPI.net to Google's button gallery.
I recovered it via Google cache :
RTF Format
PDF Format
HTML Format
Take a look at http://www.mentalis.org/allapi.qpx for an explanation of the recent changes.
Also, AllAPI.net will be up and running again at http://allapi.mentalis.org/ within a few days.
:thumb: Its up already!
Are you associated with mentalis.org?
It's up, yes, but there are still a number of dead links (for instance to the API-Guide download page). I'll try to have it sorted out by this evening.
Thank You as allot of our members really do depend on and use it daily!
:)
This is a good news , thanks pieterp
Btw : I guess that all the download links are invalid , see http://allapi.mentalis.org/vbexample...ategory=SOURCE
Images need a new URL too.
I changed all the links that pointed to allapi.net. The download links are also fixed. There are a few images (in the tutorials for example) that won't display correctly, but that's due to an other problem. We'll fix it later.
Have fun!
Thanks a lot, pieterp and krisp !!! :D
YEs as stated, they are working on updating the locations.Quote:
