blue screen

I'm getting the dreaded blue screen of death and don't know what to do. The messages I'm getting are:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and now

A problem has been detected and windows has shutdown to prevent damage...



I've been having this problem for over a month now, and it's gotten so bad that it won't go without crashing. Normally, it boots up and goes to my desktop like it should and then crashes. I restart 5-6 times and it eventually works, but fairly slugish.


Today I took some hardware out one by one, but didn't have any luck secluding the problem.


I'm leaning towards a problem with the RAM. My computer has 2-512mb crucial balistix inside.

Any ideas or suggestions on this problem?

try booting ther computer in safe mode and see if it works if so its probally a driver problem

In case of a driver problem, what do you recommend doing?

Thanks guys. I ran memtest on my computer and it came up with A LOT of errors! It was up to 191 errors when I stopped it and I have screenshots partway through.

Does this mean it's a hardware issue specifically with the memory?

Well try a memtest on memory that you know is good, then try the memory that has just tested bad in another machine. I've seen problems with the RAM slots that'll cause errors too. It's almost always the RAM itself though.
