i just had a thought...
I don't know if it is possible or not :D
when a user logs in and enters a particular forum say Classic VB, is it possible to show a check box on the 'main page'(not when i am viewing/replying to a thread) which says refresh after (say 30 sec or 1 min) so that when i check it, the page refreshes automatically without me refreshing it manually...
again like a said... it is just a thought...
That would require a code hack which we tend to avoid as it just means more work for the admins when the forum software needs to be upgraded.
If you use Firefox you can get the Reload Every extension which adds an auto-reload option to each tab.

I started using Firefox (after you suggested it...) and I like it however I could not get the Reload Every extension option....
Could you explain how do I go about it?

It wouldnt be feasible to write a Hack for the forum software for that.
If youre using IE 7 there are AddOns already for refreshing a page on a set interval.

used firefox browser and try downloading the firefox adds-on RELOADEVERY on mozilla website, by using this adds-on you can set the time reload of your page.
