True, but exaggerated in a way one would exaggerate information about other religions they don't know much about: facts stated without contexts that may or may not be required for a full explanation.
Far from real.
They haven't even cared to read the Bible or other epics before coming up with this fictitious story.

The Mormons I know (and there are LOTS of them out here), seem like any other fairly fundamentalist religious followers. I don't think they put nearly as much thought into what they actually believe as they do into how to convert non-believers.
