Is it possible to edit the contents of an MS Excel file or run some macros before downloading it?
Thanks for immediate help.

Well if it was opened you have the option of running macros if your security levels are set to medium or low.
If your downloading the file to disk then I dont believe so but I'm sure anything can be done if you work and look hard enough. Probably would be a security issue again though.
What are you realy need done that they are asking for this?
The MS Excel file resides on the server.
It is for reporting.
The file contains all the data, formatting, charts and macros.
If the user downloaded it, the excel file will show only the report for him, other contents must be hidden. It is related on the commisions of every users so we need to hide the data for others. The report creator knows only is MS Excel so she wants to create it in MS Excel. She is responsible in uploading reports to the WEB Site.
I'm thinking of manipulating the dropdown box she created (when you select one, the dropdown will automatically filter the data for the report) then hide it and protect and hide some cells and worksheets the file.
I'm sorry for very bad english. ;)
I hope you understand what I'm saying. ;)
Are you displaying the Excel file on your site? or are they downloading it to their desktop for viewing?
You can filter sheets or other objects but are you saying to do that from the web page's drop down list of something in Excel?
Download it. The dropdown box is in the MS Excel file.
