When you choose a power supply (specifically for an older computer) does it matter if it's ATX? The computer is probably 3-4 years old, but runs EXTREMELY well...
Also, the current power supply blew. The side panel was off of the computer and you could see the sparks fly... Is there anyway I can tell if something else is damaged?
It matters a great deal whether it is ATX or not - not only for the physical connections, but also for the software interface to the power switch (it was hardware before ATX).
I would assume from the age that it is ATX, but you should check.
If there is no obvious damage, the only serious option is to try things out.. but it is possible that you may damage components that are currently working.Quote:
