Re: .scr files....can some 1 hack my computer with that?
I dont know how to create .src files. But yes, it is possible for someone to embed a virus or trojan onto one.
Re: .scr files....can some 1 hack my computer with that?
Yes, a *.scr could contain a virus in it. These files, as all files that come form an unknown/untrusted source, should be scanned by anti-virus software.
Re: .scr files....can some 1 hack my computer with that?
Actually it's very easy to create a .scr file "Screen Saver file" by the way.
you can rename any executable file and replace .exe with .scr, the computer will recognise it as a screen saver, and will open the "Display settings" dialog.
If it was a virus and you hit "Preview" button, it's over... your computer is infected
Anti-virus programs don't just read file names, they scan the content of the file. if you don't have an anti-virus program, just open the file with notepad or any text editor.
If it starts with "MZ", then it's a renamed EXE file - not necessarily a virus -
But again you can use any language to build a GDI application that exits on mouse move, rename it (replace the .exe with .scr) and you've got yourself homemade screen saver

Even earlier, actually, I think. There is a special call used to display the screensaver inline - that, too, is achieved by calling the executable.
Screensavers are basically a relic from a time before security was considered.

It's filename.scr/p for preview and /s for settings

And before TFT displays.
However, I am a little suspicious as to the intent of this thread.

You know, lots of kids think it's so cool to become hackers...I don't know why
Re: .scr files....can some 1 hack my computer with that?
Oh, I didn't even notice that part of the post.
Yes, that's suspicious indeed.
