the electricity company have decided that my g/f dad has been undercharged for the last 3 years (despite the fact they read the meter every quarter but estimated instead of using their own readings) and now they want to charge a heap of cash extra.
Does anyone know if he has any legal recourse? surely there's a time limit on how far they can go back?
I HATE utility companies in the uk they are so incompetent.
Recently I had a meter read and then recieved a bill for £830 for one quarter in a 3 bedroom flat. Upon closer inspection i noticed that the meter reader had read the SERIAL number off the meter. How can you do that? it's a sticker ffs it doesn't change.
Anyway rang up to change the reading and was told i couldn't as i had switched providers and the reading was a closing reading from the new company.
I hadn't switched providers however and when i asked who we'd switched to I was told that he couldn't tell me.

It's ok, we have 3 electricity suppliers here... We don't even know which one we ARE signed up to...
We just refuse to pay the bills right now, until it's sorted.
Well just moved into my new house at uni, :D, and there is a letter from some bailiff'sfor the previous tenants saying they will remove £54.96 worth of property, i mean honesty whats even the point. Phoned the company today saying that the old tenants had moved out but they didn't believe us, so we are just going to have to explain it to the bailiff's when they come, hope they aren't to big, :lol:

Try finding a Citizens Advice Bureau, If you cannot find one then simply
tell the suppliers to send the bill to The Occupier, 11 Downing Street.
