the Brake is in the middle...
Good bye. My last post.
OK I'm back...
I learned to somehow coordinate the gas, clutch and break, especially for being stuck in an uphill position... :s:s:s:s
i still have to work on that...
i stalled 6 times today.. and almost ran over somebody while backing up... :'(
but hey i'm learning.. at least somebody is there to pull up the emergency break. :D
almost :( lol well its his fault for being behind you ;)Quote:

Woman in Crashes Trying to Teach her Dog to Drive.
don't worry i don't have dogs... and i doubt cats would be interested in such a mundane task as driving. ;)
Heres a trick belle...
takes a little practice.. but it will make it easier to do the "hill" starts with a manual transmission...
Clutch in..
Brake in..
put it in 1st gear
pull the Emergency brake handle up, keeping the realease button pushed in with your thumb (so you can release it easily)
take your foot off the Brake...
Now you wont roll backward cause you have the E Brake on...
give it a little gas and slowly realease the clutch... now as you do this.. slowly release the the E Brake...
This trick lets you ease into first like you are on a flat road, but since you are using the E Brake, you wont roll back..
Practice this in a parking lot before u tackle it on a hill ;) but it will help to you get the hang of the clutch on a hill ....
(then you can learn to bleed the clutch ;) )
hmmm makes sense...
what my father taught me was...
clutch in..
break in..
let go of the break ... fast
then put on a little gas ... lightning fast movement
and since i'm slow i will roll backward..
then release the clutch
just to keep up the hill, i'll just release and hold the clutch, keeping the gas at level slow so that i will not roll back and roll forward.. at least.
i thought it made sense, then, i have to fight fewer controls. :S
he made me grip the E-break to try it for the first time, but it was too hard. i mean i could not even push the button. :(
I ran over somebody once. They screamed and it was really annoying. I had to go back and forth like 6 times before they finally shut up.Quote:

Do the cyclists really run over pedestrians in ......... wherever you live???
Static -
That's not a bad idea. I've been driving a manual since I was 14, but that would have been good to know at the time. I'm not sure if this is a good habit or not, but if you get used to being able to go from idle (release the clutch slowly with no gas); pretty soon you don't even need to use your brakes on a hill. You get used to that "engaging" point and you'll be able to hold yourself on a hill without moving.
I should tell you stories about buses travelling to the west side of our little island paradise hehehe :)Quote:

The way Static explained how to start up hill is pretty much the way. I had to do it for my driving exam. Before I started taking lessons though, my father let me try to get the car moving by starting in 2nd gear and in 3rd after that, that's a good way to learn to control the clutch.
Alternatively, never stop when going uphill. Under any circumstances. If you have to stop, then go up to the top of the hill and turn around.
thanks guys for the lecture, maybe i'll ask my father to fetch me later at work (midnight prolly) and then i'd try that and grope/fight the controls in the middle of the night!
what kind of a job is a midnight prolly? :ehh:
Good point... :ehh:Quote:
