Disconnecting From The Internet

OK well my current setup is like this:

Modem
|
v
Router
|
v
My Computer (wired) - Computer 1 & Computer 2 (wireless)

Now my computer never disconnects, however it seems that computer 1 and computer 2 are constantly doing.

They seem to start working again a few minutes after disconnecting, now personally I would say its the signal that is causing this, the signal is usually on around 40 - 50 percent.

But my father who owns the other two computers which are disconnecting seems to believe it is my Xbox 360 that is interfering with it, is this at all possible?

I have the following ports forwarded to my xbox 360:

192.168.2.112 UDP 88 Xbox Live
192.168.2.112 UDP 3074 Xbox Live
192.168.2.112 TCP 3074 Xbox Live

If anyone could shed some light on this situation it would be a great help :)

1) Is the XBox wired? If so, the likelihood of it interfering with any other devices is practically zero.
2) How frequent are the disconnects? Are they frequent enough that you can just disconnect (completely, even from the power) the XBox and see if the problem persists?

Is this a Linksys WRT54G series router and the disconnects occur during file downloads? If so, upgrade the firmware.

Yes the XBox is wired to the router. Sometimes it wont happen at all, but sometimes it could happen 2 or 3 times a day. Usually when ever my father comes in and says it has been disconnected I am on the XBox which is why he thinks it is the XBox doing it.

But I cant see how it is the XBox doing it as it is just the same as any other computer on the network.

And as far as I remember it did this before even buying the XBox.

Anyone any ideas on what might be causing it?

other radio frequency devices can interfere with 802.11x
things like cordless telephones, microwaves, vacuum cleaners... it's also not limited to what's directly in your room. your neighbors could be microwaving their dinner?

it all depends on their shielding and frequency at which they run at
50% is a lowsy connection rate. Consider relocating your Wireless router/access point.

And TokersBall, thanks for the suggestion, I believe it may be that as we have numerous cordless telephones in the house, and we have a big factory behind us which might have equipment that is intefering maybe?

I'd try changing your wireless channel. Also try clearing out the stored wireless conections on the 2 wireless machines.

Put one of the computers that's disconnecting right near (within a few feet) the wireless router. If it still disconnects, it's probably not weak signal or interference.
