How is the excel column defined? What is the localization of the particular computer?

I have checked the regional options setting of my PC (control panel) where the currency symbol is £ and even in the report it is £ sign. But still the excel shows the $ sign. The default locale is set to UK.
Any idea...

Re: Export to Excel 8.0 displaying $ instead of £ sign!!
You still havent said how you get the symbol in CR to display that way. You can not just paste in a special character and expect Excel to translate it. ;)
Excel also uses the Windows locale version so if your not running a multilanguage or or version compatible to your region then Excel will still display the $ sign. To use a different identifier you will need to reformat the resulting Excel sheet or automate Excel to open a file using a special locale number.
Re: Export to Excel 8.0 displaying $ instead of £ sign!!
Hello,
For all the fields if I want to display the £ sign, in the Format editor of crystal report, I have selected the System Currency default format and when I clicked on customize and in custom style form for currency,I put the symbol to be £.
As for the Excel version, it is Microsoft Excel 2003 (11.8033.8036) SP2.
Do you mean I have to reinstall another version of excel (a multilanguage one) in order to display the £ sign??
Thx
