Next week, let's introduce him to firewalls.
That site wants me to download "Snake.txt.exe". Should I?
I'm new to all this computing lark.
Erm... Yes?Quote:

Eat it, fat boy.
What connection are you paying for though? And is that over a Wi-Fi link with 2 other PC's on the network ? :pQuote:

Hmm, seems a bit low when i'm paying for 8Mbps speeds doesn't it?
3 hours.Quote:

Time to diet.
It can take upto a week i think it was quoted as. So, good luck, you should notice that you either get disconnected once in a while, or that the speed increases a bit day by day. so, same speed test, same thread, same time tomorrow? to see how things are progressing.Quote:

hasn't changed noticably since last time i tried the test.
:(
That's because 8MB isn't really 8MB. It's upto 8MB. They usually share the same line with other subscribers.
It certainly is.. if you want to get close to the maximum speed, you need to use a cable line, rather than a BT one.
My results for an "up to" 2Mb/256k line (with 3 open instances of FireFox, and Outlook doing its thing): 2021k/239k

just tested it a minute ago. :D
ohhhh the power. ohhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah
That's alot better, in fact, you're running faster than i can on this line right now.
It should keep rising until i reckon roughly 7.5mbps absolute max.
Well according to the prodigynet line test my exchange is capable of 6.5mbps. I hope it stays at least as fast as it is now. i'm happy with this :)
more than happy in fact.
Wossy got himself a broadband subscription so that he could spend every moment of it on speed tests.
Download Speed: 15723 kbps (1965.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 353 kbps (44.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
When it goes above 4mbps i spawn a new browser and run the test again at the same time!
Your upload sucks btw. (In comparison to downstream)Quote:

First time I ran this test my upload was abou 369 and it has barely changed since.
This morning (about 8am) I managed to spike at 7.5mbps :D not managed it again though, I think everyone is online at the moment.
The upload is about right to be honest.Quote:
