Long time no post (graduation present)

I've been working crazy hours at my new job. I working from 3:00PM to 11:30PM Monday through Friday. I work for Verizon Wireless doing customer telephone support. It's just a summer job before I go to college, but I have five weeks of training. Then I work for about five weeks,then I leave for college. I like the job so far, but I haven't answered a phone yet. I'm in my fourth week of training.

With that aside, I had a question abour processors/laptops that I thought you guys might be able to help with. My parents are buying me a laptop for college, and I know I'm getting it from Alienware, but I'm not sure which to get. I'm debating between these three:

Aurora™ m9700
AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile ML34 1.8GHz 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache
*Less battery usage
*Cheaper overall total cost
*Decent FSB (which, as I understand it, is almost more important the the clock speed)

Area-51® m5750
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300 1.66GHz 2MB Cache 667MHz FSB
*About the same price as above
*Bad FSB (667 MHz) ... But does Dual Core make up for that?

Aurora™ m7700
AMD Athlon™ 64 3200+ with HyperTransport Technology
*More battery usage
*$500 more expensive overall
*Better FSB (1600 MHz)

I'd appreciate any thoughts on which I should go with. Thanks all. :)

I'm going to be using it for programming mostly. I'll probably having multiple programming environments/tools open at once. I'll also be doing the occasional photoshop-ing. And I don't plan on gaming a ton in college, but I know I will end up doing it somewhat.

I guess one of my questions is wether I should go with the 64bit AMD with a higher FSB or a the 32bit Intel dual core with the lower FSB.

At this point, higher processing speeds are irrelevant, you want a duo core to handle more.

All three will handle photoshop. If you're gaming, make sure it's got a nice graphics card. I'm sure all of them have nice graphics cards.

If your planning on playing Quest for 3d you will need a huge graphics card, because that thing eats resources for breakfast!

I have a "AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile ML34" in my HP laptop. It gets excrutiatingly hot. If you're the kind of person who actually likes to set you laptop on the couch or in your lap... Don't go this route. Other then that, I love the processor and it performs well.

I think you should go with the second one. The dual core architecture is more suited for what I think you're going to be doing. ;) The dual-coriness should make up for the slow bus speeds. It'll allow you to multitask far better than fast memory will.

PS- School wont be the same without you. :'(

I hate Intel. I would only accept it in a laptop. When it comes to desktops, it can't come near it in a 10m circle.

Also, I hate ATI...everywhere. Only nVidia for me.

I've got a dual core, which is pretty nice. However, if you're going to play Oblivion, that 2GB RAM is really nice.

Macs aren't that bad. I mean, with boot camp, you can run OSX, Xp, and as many Linux distros as you can fit (eight linux is record so far) Plus,the Macbook Pros are some of the sleekest-looking laptops out there. They don't run that bad either. :p

Negatives: Their new ads! C'mon, not all pc's are like that! My XP box hasn't crash in like 4 months and I keep it on 24/7
