Yes, you can install all threee versions if you want, they all run side by side on the same system as long as you install them to different folder location (default). There are a few issues though when having 1.0/1.1 and 2.0 on the same system. In 2.0 there were some backwards compatibility breaks. So you really need to make sure your 1.1 apps will run on the 2.0 framework as there are particular instances where a 1.1 app will run using 2.0.
How about the visual studio IDE? Is it still ok if vs 2003 and 2005 exist? I have VS 6.0, and VS 2003 currently...i have heard from some IT friends that sometimes you have to uninstall the previous versions (vs 6 and 2003) before installing vs 2005..
Thanks.... :) :) :)
No need to uninstall. If you have the CTP version of VS2005 then it's better to uninstall that first. If not then you can just install it and will have no problem. I still have my vb6 installed alongs with vs.net2003 and 2005.
I have VS 2002, VS 2003, VS 2005 , C#Builder all installed on my PC without facing any problems
Installing the programs is no problem as they are designed to run side by side as I posted. I have VS 6, VS 2003 and now VS 2005 all on the same system. As long as you dont have any beta versions or CTP then you should be ok.
What you read was about uninstalling a beta of VS 2005 in a specific manner before installing VS 2005 Release.
Guys,
Thanks for the ideas....I'll just try installing the express edition of VS 2005 and inform you later on regarding the progress....My current memory is 256MB..Shall I upgrade to 768MB or higher?
