The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
I remember asking (or suggesting for that matter) once before but don't recall getting any reasonable answers so here we go again:
can those two buttons be splitted and moved to exactly opposite sides - I noticed recently few new threads created by mistake (people are hitting the "New..." button rather "Reply").
I've done it myself but somehow always managed to go back and hit the right button.
Very inconvenient and bad design.
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
:thumb: great Idea.
at least switch their places: the "new thread" button is closer than the "post reply" button and that's not reasonable
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
I don't really see why the New Thread button needs to be there at all - it saves one click.
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
Actually the presence of the New thread button at thread level is a hack in itself. It's not supposed to be there. When you're inside a thread, reply is the relevant button. When you're inside a forum, New Thread is the relevant button. So I'd be in favor of removing it as it was designed to be.
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
Removing that button would be even better. I didn't know it was a hack.
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
Sometimes I'm reading a thread and it reminds me of something I wanted to post about so I hit the New Thread button and I'm on my way.
Why is it bad that it's there? Just look where you click...
I like it

Thank you kindly for your advice.
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
I too when in a rush have hit the New Thread button by mistake. I would also be in favor of removing it altogether.
If you need to create a new thread then going to the forum view level is only a single mouse click and I think that would be used less then having the button at thread level is used.

Grrrrrr. This is not fair. You can delete your threads.
Threads mistakenly created by super mods must be made stickey. :D
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
? I just do like youguys can,... don't post the new thread as you have the opportunity to type in your text and stuff so just dont press post. ;)
Re: The "Post Reply" and "New Thread" buttons
That was supposed to be funny.
(I know my sense of humour is not better than my crows. :bigyello: )
When you create a thread by mistake, you can delete it immidiately.
But for other members, the thread stays there, making them 'embarrased'. ;)
I demand, threads mistakenly created by super mods must be made stickey for 3 days. :D
BTW, I always use the "Quote" or "Quick Reply". I've never clicked "Post Reply".
I think, when someone is viewing a dead thread, the "New Thread" button will help them to create a related thread. But it should open in a new window.
I vote for switching their position.
