back to what I was saying...
Instead of up-front cost plus annual support and maintenance fees we are going with a fixed cost for each month - forever :)
For that fixed cost they get whatever they ask for in changes and enhancements - we want to sell the service and not the product - and have the customer forever!
Is that a reptile - amphibian thing with you ;)Quote:

Grats again though. If you get a sample app up and running (trial version or something of that nature), I'd love to see it!
We are going to use something called ScreenCorder to record mpeg-type movies of the screens and put them on our website - I hate working on websites :(
But isn't that pushing it upon them? What if they go an entire year without any need for maintenance?Quote:

I never thought I'd say this, but... commie programmers! :afrog:
I record things with this program called Wink (free): http://www.debugmode.com/wink/ It basically takes snapshots of the screen/window and then stores them in a flash file and then creates a sprite for the mouse. For certain things, this may work better than just dumping MPEGs of your screen.
You can easily tell that its not a "normal" video when you make something with wink, but that may not be a problem. You can also insert little text boxes and what not on frames to describe or explain something. You should at least check it out... even if it doesn't do what you need for this application, you may find a use for it in the future.
Thanks - I'll check it out. I've only done very little with Matchware ScreenCorder (one of my customers bought a licence for me - so it was free also)...
Congrats Steve! :thumb:
Now you need to sell them SBS 2003 so they can do their work from home :D
Hmm... Nice customer. So let me guess, this customer was recieving either a discount or a bribe?Quote:

What self respecting business application DOESN'T have a snake game :confused:Quote:

I might depend on what half they keep :p
Ok - what is a snake game actually?Quote:

The separate servers running Server 2003, Terminal Server, ISA 2004, SQL Server 2005 should do the trick. :D
Yeah I hate it... It is slow for me too :cry:Quote:

You are back. :eek2:
I hope you learnt your lesson.Quote:

What does the product do exactly?
You shouldn't have fallen asleep at the Demo meeting this morning. :D
Hey, you have to admit, it was a very clever post. A very crude one, but brilliant. My third eyeball exploded in sheer glory.
Too good. :thumb: :thumb:Quote:

I'm still puzzled why didn't you get the MVP for SQL Server instead of VB?
Thanks!Quote:

@vb1978 - the product is a Student Management System - for a school district to process everything from attendance through transcripts.
The delay is extreme - as you type characters you can watch the CHAR LEFT increase and the pause to see the next character typed is very obvious :(Quote:
