I know, I should know this but I can not think of it.
I am looking for a way to find the last used column so I am able to insert text into the next empty column to the right.

can u pls explain a bit clearly....first of all is it excel or access ???
If its Excel then you can use
SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell).Columns
