How long does it take to learn to play the guitar competently?

it depends really on how dedicated you are. You can alot in a short time if you want to, but the knowledge / skill doesn't just appear.

I didnt mean it like that :bigyello:. I meant that you can learn to play to an ok standard in a few months but to really play it takes years of work and effort (i havent got there yet, i only have 3 years under my belt).
