[RESOLVED] Not allow ratings unless a certain post count has been reached
I'm proposing the idea of preventing users from rating anyone unless they have a certain amount of posts (maybe 10-20).
The reason? There has been several times where a student has posted his or her homework and basically asked us to do it for them. There has been several occasions when I have gotten a bad rating because they didn't like the fact that I wouldn't do there homework for them and one person even tried to call me the F word in one of their disapproval ratings. I didn't do anything wrong, just told them we wouldn't do their homework and they needed to post the code that they have done so we can give them pointers.
So, good idea or bad idea?
Re: Not allow ratings unless a certain post count has been reached
At the moment, as I'm sure you're aware already, if members have less than 20 posts their ratings do not count for any points anyway so it does not affect your reputation. If anyone abuses the reputation system you can always report it to an administrator (Martin) and they will handle it.
I don't think this feature will be added for a couple of reasons
- It prevents legitimate ratings from new members. Even if they do not count for points, it's always nice to get a Thank you message or whatever.
- It would require a PHP code hack. Our hacks are generally limited to stuff that can be done in the templates, like Javascript. Other hacks just make the software harder to maintain after upgrades etc.

I wasn't aware of that. Cool

In that case I advise you to read our Reputations FAQ :)

Kasracer - just a note, that person's rating didn't have any point values. Additionally, I just banned that person because neither messages that can be taken as threatening nor profanity are allowed on this forum.
Brad!
