Can't connect to network server...
Before, I was able to connect to a machine called "machineA" by typing "\\machineA" in an explorer window. Now, I can't. It says it can't find the server. I tried pinging it by "ping machineA" and it is getting back a response. Anyone know how to fix this?
Re: Can't connect to network server...
Does MachineA have any shared folders? If it doesn't, simply typing \\MachineA won't work. You can however (assuming you have the appropriate persmissions), get to it typing \\MachineA\C$.
Re: Can't connect to network server...
I tried what you said, but it still says it can't find the server. Do I have to fix something in machineA? if so, what?
Re: Can't connect to network server...
Further testing showed that other computers connected to the network are able to connect to "machineA" by typing "\\machineA" in windows explorer. So it seems only machineB is unable to connect to it. Any ideas why?
Re: Can't connect to network server...
Did you test the user that's logged into MachineB on MachineC or one of the ones that works?

Can machineB connect to other servers?
Re: Can't connect to network server...
yes, they are logged. And yes, MachineB can connect to other machines. In fact, MachineA can connect to MachineB, but not the other way around, which is the goal.
