[RESOLVED] Suggested enhancement for Resolve tool
I know what you guys will probably say, but its just an idea:
- an checkbox option on the Post Reply page, shown to the thread starter only, to mark the thread resolved when they post.
This may encourage the use of, and promote to new users, our very own Mark Thread Resolved forum mod.
:)
Re: Suggested enhancement for Resolve tool
That would save exactly one mouse click.

I just see a lot of people adding the checkbox or (Resolved) to their "Thank you" post in the thread and thinking it applies to the thread itself. It's obviously not going to help us much that already know about it.
Re: Suggested enhancement for Resolve tool
I tell most of the newbies about the Mark Thread Resolved and I don't mind continuing to do that.

So do I, and in addition, I have no problem with editing the first thread and adding the resolved verbage myself. I've seen members who have noticed that I did so, and that triggered them to start using it on their own.
It has been my experience that most members will mark their threads resolved after they have been around for a little bit and see how it is done. At this point, it really is just the very new folks that have to be told and/or reminded.
Incidentially former spell checker, thread resolution is appropriate for all forum sections, even this one. :D
Re: [RESOLVED] Suggested enhancement for Resolve tool
There are a number of additional features that I'd like to see added. Hopefully future versions from vBulletin will have some of them. This includes the feature of having the question "Does this answer your question?" added. This is on some other forums and is really cool since it can tally how many people were really helpful in answering. Add to this a search for unanswered questions (based on this value not on whether there was a response) and you have something really helpful.
But this type of feature would need to be added by the software company (vBulletin).
Brad!
