You have forums for API, Database, Games, etc. but what about ActiveX User Controls?
There is very short info about this theme. This is one of that forums where the personal experience interchange is more necessary.
This is my point of view.

It's just known as General VB shtuff .
ActiveX = COM
(see my forum request)

mmm I'm not completely agree. As we don't have a special place to point this kind of questions, we use the General, but this place is not dedicated to ActiveX. Questions listed in this place are really of a very general kind.
Well this is my point of view. I'm getting crazy looking information about this theme and nothing. There are a lot of tutorials and books, but all they content almost the same boring (and very simple) themes and the really interesting themes are not covered in any place.
I'm ellitle angree because Microsoft improve this technology and then "hide" or "restrict" the information about it.
I just have purchased the Dan Appleman book and he includes almost the same themes that I can found in any source. I'm disapointed about this book.
Really nobody knows more about ActiveX!!!!?????
Are you talking about an aX or com forum.
fyi, activeX is com, but com is a whole lot more than activeX. What environment do you develop for? Personaly, i live in distributed systems, where com is half of everything (the other half being RPC - com was based on rpc btw). Also, the forum would be used for all our development in com+,.net and C# (beleive me, you will need to know that **** soon;-)

Huh? Look at the Platform SDK. I'd hardly call that encapsulation ;) (don't worry if you don't get it!)Quote:

Yes tumblingdown, ActiveX is part of the COM technologie.
And of course I worry a lot about information needed parksie. If we never worry because we don't have the information, you and me (and much more people) would not program almost anything.
Today, we (humans) are not more inteligent that Ptolomeus, Copernicus, Kepler, and many great brains of the past, but we know more than they, because we have more information that they had.
Human race would not progress without amazing information.
That is only my point of view.
Fair enough. My point was just that I've always considered Microsoft to be among the best for providing information. I don't think there's anything else that comes near to MSDN and the Knowledge Base.
I see your point though, and I'm not disputing the fact. However, I think that a lot of people now are relying more on information than intelligence, by standing on the shoulders of others, as it were.
Anyway, back to tormenting John to give us a COM forum ;)
All the more reason to have a forum for sharing what we do and know (com wise)Quote:

Also, personaly, in my environment (work) we are investing in com+, .net, c# etc, etc. I know there are others out there in the same position. Seems like a good way of spreading the knowledge.
