Filename techniques

Hello experts,

I would appreciate if somone can someone provide good to know (routines) for filename management on visual basic 6.0. I suppose you experts have these on hand easily!

stuff like:-

1. allowing the user to create new file - and automatiaclly add them to a combo box of currently existing files - retaining the history of the new file in the existing files combo box each run time which I am not sure is possible to do.

2. achiving automation.

3. Intelligent filename automation - i.e. naming conventions without the user have to type the filename. General nice to knows
