short type is good in casaul conversation; however, when being serious -- such as asking a question in one of the programming forums, it is rather bad. It indicates that the person is unprofessional and doesn't want to take the time to be clear about their question. A number of people tend to ignore such posts.

Its ok to use shortened words that we are all familiar with such as pls or ty, but to do that to every word that you type is just annoying.
