Iraq needs to be like Turkey
The Iraqi government is so divided by sectarian lines its ridiculous.
They should follow Turkey's model. Turkey strictly prohibts any mixing of government and religion. And non of the political parties can be named or formed according to sectarian lines.
Religion itself is not the problem, its the Theocracy and the blatant division of people by sectarian lines thats the problem.

Re: Iraq needs to be like Turkey
Turkey is good. It's sorta like Chicken only better because it's bigger and can hold more stuffing. It also goes good with cranberries. If you think about it, that's a pretty monumental acomplishment considering the only thing cranberries were good with prior to that was a urinary tract infection. Did you know that the national bird of the united states was almost the Turkey, but they decided to use a bald eagel instead? I guess George Washington never experienced painfull urination. He may have changed his vote if he had. I think we should make the national bird of the planet earth, the turkey.

Yea Ben Franklin was a proponent of that idea (Turkey as national bird).
I'm glad he failed.

I can't believe after all of the wonderfull things that the turki in this world have done for humans, that you can support that. The only thing eagles have done are krap on windshields and choke in the superbowl. :)

But eagles are cooler.
Our national bird shouldn't be slow stupid and fat.

[in serious mode] Wild turkeys are anything but slow, stupid and fat. and unlike their imprisoned butterball brothers waiting for a thanksgiving execution, can actually fly.
[In MB mode] IMHO anyone with big enough cojones to fly a kite with a key on it in a lightning storm should be able to pick the national bird.
Free the Butterballs!

But considering the majority of Americans are obese surely this would be a fitting emblem?
Ours is the best emblem anyway, the mighty Dragon! :)

I'll go along with that :). Of course, St George slew one - I've often wondered if there's any significance in that, given our national histories.

Re: Iraq needs to be like Turkey
Probably. Supposedly the red dragon represented the Welsh and the white dragon the Anglo-Saxons (I believe they were the standards used at the time). Near the end of the battle, they became drunk on mead and they were buried together in a stone coffin in the center of Britain. Legend also has it that as long as they remain buried together, no other may invade the island.
I always find it funny that of the four national saints only one comes from their respective countries!
St David (Wales) was Welsh
St George (England) was Palestinian
St Patrick (Ireland) was either Welsh or Franch-Brittany (Bannavem Taberniae)
St Andrew (Scotland) was Isreali

Re: Iraq needs to be like Turkey
I thought Dragons were reptiles not birds? Dragons were pretty cool. I never understood why England never put them on the endangered species list. You can never have too many winged flame throwers flying around.

Dragons aren't reptiles. They have way too much metabolism for that.
I think they are mammals with leathery skin.

Well actually both American Women and Britians are indeed obese. ;)

Re: Iraq needs to be like Turkey
Yeah, I was probably a being a bit unfair considering almost twice as many men are obese and it is much eaiser due to a womans anatomy to qualify as obese. If we ate more turkey obesity wouldnt be a problem. Proving once again that the turkey should be the worlds national bird and that dragons are high in fat.

Difference between Eagle and Turkey.
A Turkey gets eaten.
anyway back on topic. Turkey is a model case of a primarily Islamic country where seperation of church and state has worked wonders.
Maybe people need to complain about Theocracies and politicians using religion as a pawn in their agendars instead of against the actual religion.
Religion is only bad when it's mixed with politics.

Re: Iraq needs to be like Turkey

I don't feel comfortable eating anything that is a top predator. Seems un-natural.

I think I've tried mountain lion, certainly alligator, shark, bluefin tuna, Pike (ok, maybe they are not top predators globally, but within the class::Lake, they are), and bear. I'm not quite sure how top you can go.

I love good tuna. Don't sharks eat tuna?
-
Re: Iraq needs to be like Turkey
Well, once you get down to it, there is no top predator. You can eat a grizzly, but a grizzly might eat you. Either way, the worms will get a taste of you before the bird eats them.

I'm thinking a Jeffrey Dahmer burger is about as high as you can go.
grizzly might kill you, but likley won't eat you. Kodiak or polar bear on the other hand
of course, no bear are cooler than the seattle black bears :bigyello: . :thumb:

Why does the bear got to be black huh?
Are you saying black people are drunk?
Why couldn't it be a polar bear that got drunk off his ass?
...
I'm kidding.

Re: Iraq needs to be like Turkey
Polar bears only drink Pepsi.
